Please note: This volunteer opportunity is for immediate placement in our spring program. Congratulations to everyone who participated this weekend at the 2023 Metro Region Quiz Rally. We are so proud of our Pony Club members for all the hard work they put in to study for this rally. This year Access Equestrian had its largest group ever to participate with three full teams bringing home 1st, 3rd, and 4th place in their respective divisions. Thank you to all the volunteers and parents who helped support our amazing USPC members.
This rally, besides challenging Pony Club members to learn horsemanship and horse care, provides them with opportunities to display and learn good sportsmanship, leadership, stewardship, and teamwork as they prepare thoroughly, plan and cooperate with their teammates, and take winning or losing in stride. We would especially like to congratulate Heather Sullivan D-3 for her achievement as the winner of the Charlotte Mason Horsemanship Award for Best Individual Score. Her demonstration of superior horsemanship knowledge and work ethic is very much deserving of such a tremendous prize.

Access Equestrian is seeking kind and caring volunteers to assist in our afternoon Stable Moments mentorship program for foster and adopted children.
Stable Moments is a one-on-one mentorship program that matches a volunteer community mentor with a foster or adopted child and one horse for one hour each week. This program has been shown to improve the life course of foster and adopted children who have experienced complex developmental trauma. Through equine-assisted learning and community mentorship, we work towards building resilience and restoration in children. Each participating child is given a plan of care that is color coded for the life skill areas they are working on. Community mentors then choose activities based on those colors. To track progress, mentors complete activity logs at the end of each session. We also collect pre and post test data for life skill improvement and complete progress summaries at the end of session throughout the year. As a mentor for Stable Moments the requirements are as follows:
Please note: This volunteer mentor opportunity is for immediate placement during designated weekday afternoons and requires a six-month commitment. |
