Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy is a treatment approach that uses activities on the horse that are relevant and motivating to the client and that will address the individual's goals. This treatment provides graded sensory input designed to elicit responses from the client. The client receives proprioceptive input, vestibular input, tactile input, auditory input, olfactory input, and visual flow simultaneously as the horse is moving. This contributes to organization and integration of the sensory systems. This treatment also aids in core strength, trunk control and breath support, all of which are important parts of speech and language development.
